What actually happened

4.8 million blenders recalled. Then the lights went out.

In December 2023 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled the BlendJet 2 because units could overheat or catch fire and the blades could break off — fire and laceration hazards. Owners were told to destroy their base and wait for a free replacement.

You did everything right. You cut up the seal, you sent the photo, you waited. The replacement was never coming. That's not on you — and it's exactly why we built this page.

Since 2016

Our story

We were here first. We're still here.

BLENDi started in a college dorm room back in 2016 — one of the original portable blenders, before the category exploded and the copycats rushed in. We designed and engineered it in the US and spent years refining the motor, the blades, and the build across tens of thousands of blends.

While other brands chased a viral moment and then disappeared, we kept improving the product and standing behind every customer. That's the whole difference. We're not a trend that vanished when things got hard — we're the company still picking up the phone, still shipping, still here.

Switching questions

Everything a former BlendJet owner asks

I had a BlendJet — which BLENDi should I choose? +

If you used your BlendJet for daily protein shakes and smoothies, start with Pro+ for the closest everyday-portable feel. If you want a more powerful, premium upgrade with better insulation and capacity, go with Steel (21 oz, 180W).

Why is BlendJet not sending my recall replacement? +

According to the CPSC recall listing, BlendJet has gone out of business and the free-replacement remedy is no longer available. Many owners who destroyed their base as instructed never received a replacement. BLENDi isn't affiliated with BlendJet — we're simply still here and offering switchers 25% off so you're not left without a blender.

Will BLENDi handle ice, frozen fruit, and thick shakes? +

Yes. Choose Pro+ or Steel if you regularly blend ice, frozen fruit, or thicker shakes. Steel's 180W motor is our most powerful and gives the smoothest blend for tougher ingredients.

Is it as easy to clean as my old blender? +

Even easier. Add water and a drop of soap, blend for a few seconds, then rinse. Same quick blend-and-rinse routine you're used to.

How do I use my switcher discount? +

Add your Pro+ or Steel to cart and enter code SWITCH25 at checkout for 25% off. Free shipping applies on orders over $59.

Is BLENDi a real, established company? +

Yes. BLENDi has thousands of verified reviews, national retail placement, a Good Morning America feature, and real US-based customer support and warranty — a brand built to stick around.

A quick favor for your safety

Still have your recalled BlendJet?

Don't keep it in a drawer. Here's how to retire it safely.

How to safely retire a recalled BlendJet 2

Stop using it and stop charging it. The CPSC recall is specifically about overheating, fire, and blades breaking — a dead or swollen battery is a real hazard.

Don't toss it in the household trash. It contains a lithium-ion battery, which can spark fires in trash trucks and landfills.

Recycle it as e-waste. Many electronics retailers and municipal facilities accept lithium battery devices for free — search "battery recycling near me."

Check your serial number. You can confirm recall status and read the official notice on the U.S. CPSC website (cpsc.gov).
